I’ve been talkin a little serious on the last few things, so lemme lighten things up: It’s MAHVEL BABYEE! (Video has some NSFW language!)
Why am I talking Marvel today? I just got SPANKED on live. Huge. Awful losses. I sometimes only got ONE character down. And that’s if I was lucky.
And a newbie asked “Who’s the worst character in the game” and as we all know (if you follow the game) who that is.
He may not be the best, but he does rule
Yeah, he is the worst. Pretty much the bottom of the barrel. But he is fun. And he even has some great mixups, and some good damage tricks. But yeah, he’s pretty bad. But as I got spanked, by a team that had him in it, I do realize being the best doesn’t make it the most fun to play.
Many say Sentinel is one of the top characters, and I just can’t play him. I’m awful with him. He’s got a lotta tricks, and a lotta damage options, but in my hands I might as well be playing Mortal Kombat. But, that’s the thing, others CAN use him. And use him SUPER well.
Every character, in every game, has some form of usability. It could be a tactic, or it could be just the fact you just LIKE using that character. And the opposite is true as well, every character has some sort of weakness.
If you’re getting beat by a team, most likely it’s YOUR fault. If you keep going “You only won cause of (insert character or tactic here)” Well, it’s YOUR fault for either falling for it, or not knowing how to get around it.
Certainly some match ups are just plain super difficult to win. I mean, it’s pretty unlikely a Roll is gonna take down Sentinel or Storm. But there’s something about each character that can work well. And especially with the right assist.
So, what do we, as scrubs (yes I’m a scrub) do? Practice. A lot. Know your favorite characters, and know who they’re weak against. I for one, love to use Iceman. Well, Iceman doesn’t really have a great medium range play, and not too much mixup game either. But his beaming is great, and all his combo’s can end up with Arctic Attack.

I know some good rush down, and it will even take some of the big guys down if they’re not expecting it too. It leads them to make some mistakes too. So, lets not hide behind “Oh that’s cheap” and go “Man, I need to find away around that.”
