Doing a special thing here, mostly cause I just saw the new Marvel v Capcom 3 trailer recently. You know the one, with Tron Bonne in it?
Watch it. See Tron there? The girl in the robot walker? Yeah, she’s in it. I mean, she’s incredibly cool, and has some of the most awesome minions ever.
So this leads me to think: Who else could be in this game? And why? So, here are MY top 10 hopefuls on this game. I hope these guys are in it, because I think they are just plain awesome. Though maybe not as awesome as Captain America blocking a helicopter with his shield though.
Jennifer Walters AKA She-Hulk is just a plain fun character to read. She’s green, smart, funny, and she’ll often break the fourth wall like some Merc With a Mouth we know. Sure, she’s not very varied in her power set, but she could be a female strong character. Those, are incredibly rare in fighting games, and plus, she is pretty easy on the eyes.
She’s got personality, strength, fighting ability (unless Jeph Leob writes her for some reason) and she’s quirky. So she’s my number 10.
Arthur is from one of the hardest games known to mankind. A game so evil, you have to beat it twice just to get the ending. And he’s got some of the most iconic weapons for a character in game history. Everyone recognizes his lance, his armor, and of course his boxers.
He’s hardcore, got great powers, and really hasn’t been seen much lately. It’s time for him to return. Arthur is number 9
Danny Rand really has been coming into his own in the Marvel Universe. His series was critically acclaimed, he joined the Avengers, and he even was in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. His kung-fu is strong, and with his Iron Fist (get it) he could be a complete blast to play.
But, he’s a great character, with a great design. And it’s a fighting game that could always use more Kung Fu. So Iron Fist makes it to number 8
Phoenix Wright. Lawyer, and all around nice guy, Phoenix gets on here because of his loyal fan base. I know he’s already been confirmed to NOT be in this game, but really with all the fans who want him in it, it’d be a mistake for him to not be there. Sure, his fighting style will be limited, but no more limited than someone like Frank who made it into Tatsunoko V Capcom.
He’s got the fan’s behind him. He’s got his creator wanting him in the game. He’s got an attorneys badge, and he’s got my number 7 slot.
Carol Danvers really hasn’t gotten much respect lately in the comics. Sure, she was leading the Avengers for a bit, but she always kinda felt like a second banana in the book. She’s got great powers, she can fly, and that costume is great.
Really, she’s got a good power set. Flight. And well, the Marvel side needs a lot more ladies going on it. She’s easily number 6
Momo was my favorite character from Breath of fire. She’s smart. She uses a freakin cannon! I mean, that’s pretty darn spiffy right there. She carries around a cannon to use against her foes. I don’t see YOU carrying around a cannon.
Now she wasn’t the best character in the game. But I really had a soft spot for her. She was fun, and she just clicked with me. And that’s why she’s number 5
Richard Rider’s had a rough couple of years lately. From going up against Annihilus, battling the Phalanx, seeing the Marvel Cosmic universe nearly torn apart by Black Bolt and Vulcan, and becoming one of Cap’s Secret Avengers, Nova’s just been coming into his stride. With a good power set, and a rush move similar to Ruby Heart and Jon Talban he’s really ready to make it into the video game world.
Really, he’s pretty darn awesome. And he’s getting big in the Marvel U, so I can’t see why NOT have him.
Man, do I remember playing Captain Commando. Back in the day, when arcades roamed the lands wild and free, there was this utterly insane game: Captain Commando. Not only did it have a ninja, a cyber soldier, a mummy, and a freaking BABY IN POWER ARMOR.
Captain Commando has been in the last two Marvel games, and he’s been a blast to use each time. He can summon up his buddies, and even join with them for a big attack later. So, he’s cool. His crew is cool. He’s got great sunglasses. He’s number 3
Thanos is my second favorite villain in the Marvel Universe. Doctor Doom is my number one. Magneto is number three. But Thanos has done something no one else in the Marvel Universe has done. He’s killed half the population of Earth. All to impress Death. No, that’s not a name. He wanted to impress the embodiment of Death.
He’s re-written reality to have evil doppelgangers of nearly all of Marvel’s heroes. I mean, he’s just THAT cool. And he’s my number two guy on my list.
And who would be number one?
Mike Haggar. Yeah, I know, to some people think he’s not really worth putting into this game. Some would go “Hey, if you want Haggar, why not just put in Zangeif?” Well you wanna know why?
He’s really even the basis for nearly every strong guy in the Capcom realm. He’s strong, he’s mayor, and he’s got a mustache that would make Freddie Mercury proud.
But really, this is more giving Mike Haggar his due. He’s the main character of Final Fight, the game that helped make Street Fighter possible. I mean, Guy’s been in four Street Fighter games. Cody’s been in two. How many has Haggar been in? Well he’s got a cameo in Super Street Fighter IV, but that’s it. C’mon Capcom, give Mike his due.
Next Time, I’ll be on my weekly schedule again, with a review of a game. Please comment, and check back every week.
